Shame!

The passage of the Medicare bill in the House is a great shame for that institution. A 3 hour roll call vote? When will Republican reps grow some balls? It seems to me that if you're a Republican Congressman, your loyalty is to DeLay/Frist/Bush instead of your principles.

I can't believe we're paying private companies bribes to "compete" for senior's healthcare coverage. If you're a capitalist, I hope you understand that this is way worse than socialism, which is an appealing alternative to this bill.

No it's better for some reason if the government pays private companies than the government running it itself. ONE DAY the market will handle it!

The lesson here is obvious: Given the choice between big government that benefits people and big government that benefits corporations and the wealthy, Americans will a) grudgingly admit that they do indeed like big government and b) choose the kind that benefits actual people. Too bad the Democrats between 1967-present were too dumb to offer it up, and in 1993, too dumb to vote for it.
